Surely Not Another Solitaire Game?
In the world of computer gaming, there are quite a few games out there that tend to pop up again and again and again. Take Mahjong, for example. The ancient Chinese tile game became hugely popular in North America several years ago and we've probably seen hundreds of different incarnations by now. Another example of this, possibly a better example, is solitaire. The successful solo card activity has been around for years and is actually a staple of personal computers. Because of all of this, I'm incredibly wary whenever I try out a new solitaire game. I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of them on the market are simply uninspired trash that rely on cheap "twists" to sell copies. There are very diamonds in the rough. So why am I telling you all of this? So that you'll believe me when I tell you that Gamehouse Solitaire Challenge is one of those diamonds. A very big, shiny diamond.
Ten Games and More
While this product does offer its own twist, in no way does it rely on it. Twist aside, what we have here is the definitive solitaire game. You get to choose from ten different variations, all incredibly different from the rest. The games, in no particular order are:
- Klondike
- La Belle Lucie
- Nestor
- Pyramid
- Tri Peaks
- Addiction
- Canfield
- Free Cell
- Forty Thieves
- Spider
Keep in mind that these are all existing variations all with their own unique sets of rules. Too many games out there offer "different" game modes only to wind up having a bunch of really similar types that only have subtle, minor differences.
Varying Difficulty
Another thing that's great about having all of these options is that they all offer different degrees of difficulty which include, easy, medium, hard, and for the true veteran, expert. It's a lot to have in one package and it makes this an experience that you'll come back to time and time again.
Challenges
Like I said, there is that unique twist. Gamehouse Solitaire Challenge presents you with various challenges, with each game type having four of five and a couple with six. These challenges add a tremendous amount of life to the game. They can take away certain features, pit you against the clock, or even change a few rules. Even hardened professionals will find a nice challenge here, hence the appropriate name.
The Best Solitaire Package Available
If you're a fan of the classic card game, you owe it to yourself to pick up Gamehouse Solitaire Challenge, and I definitely mean that. There's more substance here than you could possibly dream of, with almost a dozen different play types, each with their own unique scenarios. The entire graphic presentation is very inviting and offers some of the most exciting fun that I've had playing cards at my computer. Even if this isn't your cup of tea, there's so many options here that there's a good chance you'll find something that you'll like. In a market overrun with 2 hour gameplay experiences, it's great to have something that will keep you coming back for years.
