Talk About Staying Power

Mahjong, the classic Chinese game of strategy, exploded onto the computer gaming world a few years back and has been going strong ever since. Like solitaire, it's an activity that one person can enjoy all by their lonesome. Of course, I'm not trying to say that PC games are lonely people, only that in most cases that folks do play on their computer, they're looking for something that doesn't require an extra person. Pick a Tile

For those not schooled in the arts of Mahjong, let me give you a quick little lesson: the game area is loaded with various tiles, all depicting certain symbols (although different tile sets can usually be used). All of the pieces are laid face up, but usually arranged in such a way that the majority of them are buried underneath others.

The objective of the game is to match all of the similar tiles until nothing is left. You can only select tiles that are unobstructed on at least one side (right of left). Tiles above them or below them don't matter at all.

That's really all there is to it. The premise is simple, that much is sure, but the game is very deep and if you don't strategically plan out your every move, you'll find stuck before you know it. Like solitaire, it is very possible to lose in this game, so play your cards (or tiles, if you really want to nitpick) right if you want to make it out alive.

Ying and Yang

The main quest mode in Mah Jong Quest 2: Kwazi's Quest for Balance follows the journey of Kwazi after a mysterious storm cloud splits him into two people. In each level, the end goal is to match the two pieces of Kwazi's personalities. Other than this, there isn't a whole lot of story to be found here, but there is more than enough to keep you satisfied and give you a reason for playing.

Besides, if you're playing computer games in the hopes of finding a tense, riveting story, what were you thinking?

Graphics and Sound

Both the audio and visual presentation found here can hold their own and make for a pretty fun experience. The graphics are pretty impressive and the character designs are fun to look at and give the game a nice light-hearted feeling. The music perfectly sets the mood for some authentic mahjong gameplay.
