Time to Go Back to School
There is a certain undeniable appeal to casual games that are based on real life television shows. I remember the first time I played Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune on my computer, I was hooked. It renewed by interest in the TV shows, but it also helped to keep my brain fresh and active. One of the most popular game shows today is "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" And now you can take that trivia experience home with the computer game version, available right here on Spintop Games.
If you are already familiar with the show, you'll feel right at home with this offering. The format is absolutely identical to its real life counterpart, and the realism is astounding. Perhaps you'll start with 1st grade Math, but you'll be moving on to 3rd grade US Geography and 5th grade Grammar in no time.
And then you've got to ask yourself. Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Let's hope so!
Are You Smarter than Jeff Foxworthy?
Just like on the show, the game is also hosted by Jeff Foxworthy. He'll walk you through the entire process, egging you on as you struggle with certain questions. He'll encourage you when you get them right and he'll remind you what cheats, if any, you have left. The banter and dialog make this offering worth it already, never mind the thrill of winning thousands of (virtual) dollars!
The TV set has been recreated to a tee, including the five classmates who are there to help you. There are three cheats in place: copy, peek, and save. When you start out, there will be ten questions available to you, ranging from the first grade to the fifth grade level, covering all sorts of grade school subjects. You've got music, English literature, spelling, and more.
The key difference with this game, however, is that you do not necessarily need to know the real answer to every question. This is because each question in this format is multiple-choice, based on four possible responses. In this way, the game is a little easier than its real life counterpart.
The Million Dollar Question
Well, not all the questions are multiple choice. If you can make it through the gauntlet of ten questions, climbing up that ladder to $500,000, you will be presented with the opportunity to risk it all on the Million Dollar Question. Once you see the question, you cannot drop out of school and you have to answer it. This is the only question that is not multiple choice, so you need to type in your answer precisely right to win a million dollars.
To my knowledge, no one has managed to win the seven-figure prize on the TV show. Can you do it?
Just Like the Television Show
The children are adorable and are of great help as you struggle through a 3rd grade art question. It's funny, really, what we manage to retain from our grade school days, so it's time to shake those cobwebs out from the attic and find out once and for all whether you truly are smarter than a 5th grader. Don't worry, Jeff Foxworthy will be of no help, because he's probably not smarter than a 5th grader himself.
