Seek Buried Treasures and Forgotten Wisdom

Easily one of the most breathtaking and fascination civilizations of all time has to be Ancient Egypt. It is the land of the pharaohs and deep mysticism that has enraptured audiences for centuries. Now you will have an opportunity to further unlock even more of Egypt's secrets.

Buried deep beneath the surface of the great Pyramid of Saqqarah is a hidden chamber filled with great secrets, knowledge and power. It is here that the powerful priest Imhotep once captured the pure evil of Seth. This was 3,000 years ago, but now it seems that Seth could be turning the tide. It is up to you to prevent his escape and to free the Seven Gods that hold him captive in his underground cavern.

The Winding Road to Enlightenment

In all likelihood, you've probably enjoyed "match three" style puzzle games in the past. Perhaps you enjoyed Bejeweled or Jewel Quest. While the core gameplay in the Ancient Quest of Saqqarah appears to be much the same on the surface, there is one very interesting dynamic that will make it a totally unique adventure, even for seasoned veterans of the genre.

Instead of the standard grid or honeycomb configuration, the layout for Saqqarah follows a series of windy paths that are interconnected in the most intricate of patterns. You must swap neighboring tokens to form matching sets of three or more, but these matches need not be necessarily vertical or horizontal; the connection just has to be made along these pre-determined paths.

Upon making a connection, the path between the two tokens will become illuminated. The goal, then, is to illuminate all of these paths, effectively encapsulating the various sections until the entire board is covered in light, rather than dark.

Khufu's Advice and Assistance

It would be a pretty daunting task to unlock the secrets of Egypt on your own, so you are guided by a magical monkey by the name of Khufu. It may be a little shocking to receive advice from a magical blue monkey bearing a pharaoh's headdress, but this quirky character certainly comes in handy! He has been summoned by the Seven Gods to aid you in your journey.

Turning Darkness Into Light

The cinematic presentation in this title is simply amazing. You are treated to some absolutely terrific animations and the background images are simply breathtaking. The soundtrack is equally impressive.

Scanning through the various tokens to find connections can be a little challenging at first, because it is not on a standard grid. Look carefully and you may find occasional glimmers that will point you in the right direction. If you really get stuck, it is also possible to use the "shuffle" function located in the lower-right corner. This will randomize the orientation of the tokens to free up some more possible matches.

With some help from Khufu, you'll be turning darkness into light in no time. Solve the puzzles and reveal the treasures that await you.
