A New Twist on an Old Favorite
Bejeweled has been universally applauded as being a pioneer in the casual games industry, offering one of the most addictive and enjoyable puzzle experiences this world has ever seen. It truly is iconic, introducing gamers to the remarkably simple yet captivating match-three gameplay. It was from Bejeweled that we saw many other classic puzzle games find their inspiration and it is from the same team that developed Bejeweled that are treated to the next big thing.
Bejeweled Twists takes our beloved match-three style puzzle game and throws it into a head spin. The main goal is still to form matching sets of three or more gems, but the gameplay mechanic has been radically changed. Instead of swapping two adjacent gems, this game gets you to look at a 2x2 cluster of four gems at a time.
Hovering your mouse pointer over this cluster, you can then rotate them by clicking on the left mouse button. The rotation is always clockwise, keeping the action intuitive yet incredibly thrilling. If you liked Bejeweled before, you're definitely going to love Bejeweled Twist that much more.
The Multi-Step Spin to Win
Because of the innovative change to how you play this game, a few helpful additions have also been thrown into the mix. In earlier titles, every swap that you did had to result in a matching set of three or more jewels. Such is not the case here.
Instead, you are able to move the gems and jewels around without having to create a matching set with every move. In this way, when you find that you are having trouble finding an appropriate set to complete, you can literally move your target piece over to where you need it. Without this, Bejeweled Twist may have been a much more frustrating experience, so it is utterly fantastic that feature was included.
Bombs, Puzzles, and Zen
As if this fun new version of our favorite puzzle game wasn't enough to whet your whistle, the developers have included not one, not two, but four incredible game modes!
In Classic Mode, you are occasionally bombarded with bomb gems. These must be cleared within a set number of moves or else your game is over. Strategy is key here, because there is no time limit. In Zen Mode, you can take a more relaxed approach, because there are no bombs involved. Challenge Mode sets you up with a series of unique challenges, rather than giving you the task of clearing a certain number of gems. For example, you may need to create three consecutive matches of red jewels alone. Another example involves clearing 15 gems with a single move.
Insanely Intense Gem-Matching Action
It's truly amazing how far casual games have come in the last few years. The high resolution graphics offered in this title are truly breathtaking, as the gems glisten in all sorts of wonderful colors. Further still, if you create a matching set of four or five, you are offered some fantastic powerups to use as well. The animations for these explosives and lightning have to be seen to be believed.
All puzzle game addicts will have a tough time tearing themselves away from the computer after booting up Bejeweled Twist for the first time. Quit swapping adjacent gems and try taking this title for a spin! You'll love it!
