Based on the Television Show
Blood Ties is a television show about a former cop-turned-private investigator Vicki Nelson and her partner Henry Fitzroy, who just happens to be a 450-year-old vampire and the son of Henry VIII of England. The show deals with the occult and the supernatural, as if couldn't already guess from the vampire. The game continues the duo's adventures and delivers fun gameplay and a well-written, intriguing storyline.
As Vicki Nelson, you're currently investigating the disappearance of 14 people that belong to a secret society known as the Hellfire Club. Over a century ago, these people sought immortality by sacrificing Henry, your partner, in a special ritual with the purpose of summoning a demon named Astaroth. Fortunately, Henry was able to stop the Hellfire Club and banished Astaroth to an ethereal prison.
Ashamed by their actions, the Hellfire Club decided that their new purpose would be to keep the demon locked away, where he could do no harm. A magical tablet that was used to imprison Astaroth was broken into 14 pieces, so each piece was given to a member of the society for safe keeping. Each year they reunite to reassemble to tablet and strengthen the seal on the prison.
Now, someone has kidnapped each piec eholder in an attempt to weaken Astaroth's prison and free him. It's up to you to investigate the disappearances and find the missing tablet pieces. The demon cannot be allowed to escape.
As you can see, Blood Ties one of the most intelligent and well-crafted stories that have ever been in a game. The supernatural twist on the private investigator premise is sure to appeal to a lot of people.
Let's Get Searching!
Blood Ties is a hidden objects game. Each level gives you a few locations in which you have to search for several objects. The list appears on the left side of the screen and each item will disappear as you find it and click on it. Hints are available if you find yourself stuck.
The game presents a nice challenge by cleverly hiding items in plain sight. I can't even remember how many times I searched and searched for something to just to finally find it right underneath my nose. It's never too easy and it never gets so difficult that it's frustrating. It manages to strike a nice balance.
The stages are wonderfully designed and they look great. You'll venture all around the city and see shady street corners, rundown buildings, spooky parks, and much more. The ambient noises, such as footsteps, really add to the atmosphere.
