A New Look at Dinertown
When it comes to iconic characters from the casual game market, we need to look no further than the residents of Dinertown. We were first introduced to Flo from Diner Dash quite some time ago and since then, we've met a number of other great characters from games like Cake Mania and Wedding Dash. Well, they're back, but we're not doing a business simulation this time around.
Instead, Bernie the Bookworm has decided that he's a little tired of being "just" a bookworm. He wants to try his hand at the detective game, solving strange mysteries that have been plaguing the town. He initially feels that nothing interesting ever happens in Dinertown, but the other townspeople think otherwise. Well, he's on the case and he's taking Flo along for the ride!
Taking the familiar and bright graphics that we've seen in other games from the Dinertown setting, this new hidden objects adventure will bring out your inner sleuth!
Care for a Small Town Pace?
For this particular title, you'll have your choice of two different game modes. The Freeplay Mode will have you to take on a traditional hidden objects game, looking for items scattered around each environment.
The Story Mode goes quite a bit further, letting you solve real cases and using the objects you find as critical clues. For the latter, you can also choose between a timed mode where you race against the clock and a relaxed mode where there is no timer.
Clues, Culprits, and Cases Solved
For each of the cases that Bernie takes on with Flo, you will need to go through three main phases.
- Arrive at the crime scene and search for clues. There is a list of items along the left side of the screen and these are all scattered throughout the stage. Search high and low. The items that are slightly shaded out will require the use of one of your tools. For example, a magnifying glass must be used to find a fine piece of string.
- Narrow down the list of suspects. Each case will involve a slightly different kind of puzzle wherein you can typically eliminate three suspects from the list. These could be in the form of jigsaw puzzles, logic puzzles, and more.
- Solve the case. Go to interrogate the townspeople to learn more about the three remaining suspects. Bernie would have arrived at a certain theory based on the clues collected in phase one and the criteria must fit one of three suspects.
Since so many of the stages can be quite challenging, you've also been equipped with handy hints that automatically recharge over time. Just click on the hint button and one of the items on your list will be highlighted.
The Case of King Butt?
With 25 unique cases to crack, a wide variety of colorful characters with whom to interact, and a range of puzzles to solve, this game really does offer it all. The simple yet colorful graphics are a feast for the senses and it's even better that you get to view the Dinertown locales in a whole new light.
