Two Games in One
At first I was a little confused by Fishdom. I thought it was one game, and then I thought it was another game. It turns out that it's both games, wrapped into one. Both are equally fantastic and when combined they offer a package that's one of the best deals that you're likely to see. That alone warrants a solid recommendation from me.
With Fish Comes Responsibility
One half of Fishdom will have you taking care of your fish tank. I'm not talking about maintaining it so much as filling it with various objects in order to suit your pets' needs. Fish get lonely and they need companionship like everyone else. Solitude will not do. Raise some money and fill that sucker up with all sorts of slippery swimmers.
You can't have them living uncomfortably, can you? You'll have to supply a heater, lights, an air pump, a feeder, and so on. With each new addition, it makes life in your tank a little easier.
Finally, you'll want to spruce the place up real pretty-like to avoid depression. Underwater life can get one down in the dumps, so a few plants here or there will liven the place up a little. If you're feeling generous, you can even throw in a shell or maybe a sunken pirate ship!
So that's how you take care of your fish tank, provided you have the money. So how do you get the money? Well, that's another story entirely!
Making Money in the Underwater Kingdom
The other half of this product presents you with a traditional match-3 puzzler. When you're in need of cash, simply click the "play" button in the bottom right corner of the screen to try your luck at a puzzle.
The rules are simple: swap tiles in order to make matches of three or more. The designs on the tiles are ocean-themed, ranging from Starfish to Crabs. In each level, you'll need to clear out all the gold tiles to win. Once you do, you'll be given a cash amount based on your score and time left.
Of course, the whole experience would get boring without a few twists. Some levels include locked tiles, where the only way to break through is to match them. This is harder than it sounds, however, as the pieces cannot move, so the match must be brought to them.
If you match five pieces at once, you'll be rewarded with a bomb piece, which will take out a huge chunk of the level. Seven tiles gets you dynamite, which does even more damage. Finally, triggering seven explosions in one stage gets you lighting, which will take out all instances of one type of tile.
Upgrading
Once you've added enough fish and accessories to your tank, you'll get the option to move on to a bigger, better tank with even more stuff available. It adds a lot of life to the game and gives you something to strive for.
Is It Worth Your Time?
Fishdom is an amazing deal for a fantastic game. It offers hours of addictive fun, whether you're a fan of fish or not. I have to say it's an absolute must-have.
