A Magical Sequel

Magic Match 2 takes the beloved formula to a whole new game (quite literally) and more than doubles the fun of the first one. With the gameplay mechanics that you love unchanged, this sequel does nothing but add to an already excellent experience.

As with the first Magic Match, this products absolutely excels in terms of presentation. It combines a great story with stunning graphics and beautiful music. Not to mention it boasts an enjoyable intro song that shows you what a special package this is, not to mention perfectly sets the tone for the game's clever and witty humor.

Merlin needs your help! A Djinn's (pronounced Jin) magic transformed poor Giggles into a genie! You've got to help find a cure for the spell and turn Giggles back into whatever weird, furry creature he was before. I guess he looks sort of like a Gremlin, you know, before their transformation. Oh well, I'm getting off track! Giggles needs your help!

Journey On

The gameplay here is pretty unique and definitely worth experiencing. You're given a 3D game board that you view from an angle. On the board are several different objects (or ingredients, rather), with which you must highlight rows of three or more to gather. Your goal in each level is to get all the ingredients that are called for.

Each time you make a row, the squares beneath it will turn blue. Every time you turn a brown square into a blue one, you get one magic point. With magic points you can cast spells, such as shuffle, which will rearrange everything on the board, and swap, which will swap any two pieces of your choosing. Lastly, the transform spell will turn any item into any other item that you desire. Spells are pretty helpful, but your magic points are limited, so be cautious when using them.

There are also several objects will help you along the way. They show up when you make really long rows. Items like coins act as wild pieces and will help you connect two objects of the same type. The amulet, on the other hand, will let you connect two different items. The dynamite will blow up everything around it and give you magic points to boot. Keep in mind that these are just a few on the many items you will encounter while playing, each with its own unique ability.

Other Game Modes

There are other game modes as well as the main journey. You can choose to have a duel with Giggles, which is basically two player magic match. You and giggles play off of the same board and whoever gets all of the necessary ingredients first, wins. This is a really fun and challenging mode and requires to use a bit of strategy if you're going to beat Giggles.

There are also several bonus levels that you unlock throughout the course of the game. These levels become accessible from the main screen.

Worth a Spell

Magic Match 2 is a treat to play, plain and simple. Anyone looking for a fun game should definitely pick this one up.
