Return to a Former Glory
Everyone knows about the mythical land of Atlantis and while listening to the legends and stories may be quite enjoyable on their own, it's a difference experience altogether when you are charged with the task of lifting the sunken city back above the water and back to its former glory as one of the world's greatest towns. In this historic puzzle game, you will be presented with all sorts of different relics and ancient objects, fun power-ups and unique effects, and bright graphics that will leave you in awe, just like Atlantis itself! This adventurous quest will keep you coming back for more!
Swapping with a Purpose
On the surface, The Rise of Atlantis looks like any number of the other match-three puzzle games out there on the market, but it is actually quite different from the rest of the crowd. Some challenge you to collect as many matching sets as you can. Others make you responsible for changing the colors of the tiles underneath the game pieces. With this title, though, you have a very specific purpose that will challenge even the greatest strategist. Embedded within the grid of gems, jewels, and relics are special pieces of an ancient artifact. The key is to remove all the superfluous pieces sitting beneath it so that the artifact segment can be released from the bottom of the field. After collecting all the pieces -- you can keep track of your progress with the large indicator at the top-left of the display -- you are treated with a magical presentation of what that hidden item is.
Travel the Ancient Lands
Each area is completely different from the last, presenting you with a whole new artifact to re-create, a whole new set of relics to swap and match, and a wholly different backdrop fitting to the kingdom where you play. You start out in Phoenica, but soon move on to such famed lands as Greece, Troy, Babylon, Egypt, Carthage and Rome. Those ancient artifacts are of great value because they are treasures belonging to the patron god of the Atlanteans, Poseidon. After you assemble these seven magic artifacts and place them on the Alter of Poseidon, you will have the opportunity to raise the legendary continent, returning it to is former glory!
Colorful and Addicting
I thoroughly enjoyed The Rise of Atlantis because it featured the familiar match-three mechanic -- simply click and swap adjacent relics to create matching rows or columns of three -- but it also had a unique goal and strategy that I've never encountered before. Add in fun items like explosive bombs and electrifying lightning bolts, and you've got yourself a killer puzzle game! Rise, ancient kingdom. Rise!
